Terriers Honored By Southern Conference Coaches

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College had six football players named to the Coaches All-Southern Conference Team as announced by the league on Tuesday. In addition, Eric Breitenstein was named the Offensive Player of the Year and Nate Page earned the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, which is given annually by the Jacobs family to the top blocker in the league.

Earning first team honors from the Southern Conference Coaches were offensive lineman Nate Page, running back Eric Breitenstein and defensive lineman Eric Eberhardt. Second team honors went to offensive lineman Jake Miles, defensive lineman Ameet Pall and linebacker Alvin Scioneaux. In addition, defensive lineman Tarek Odom earned All-Freshman Team honors.

Breitenstein, a junior from Valle Cruis, N.C., leads the SoCon and ranks 11th nationally with 122.1 rushing yards per game.  He finished the regular season with 1,343 yards and 16 touchdowns.  Breitenstein has rushed for at least 100 yards in nine games this year and turned in a season-high 217 yards against Elon on October 29.  He averaged 5.5 yards per carry for the Terriers. His 1,343 rushing yards are the third most in a single season at Wofford. Among career leaders, he is second in rushing touchdowns (43), second in career 100 yard games (19), and fourth in career rushing (3,564 yards). This is his second season on the All-SoCon first team. He is the first Wofford player to earn Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Page, a senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, is a part of an offensive line which has powered the Terriers’ rushing attack. Wofford leads all of FCS with 356 yards per game on the ground. The Terriers also boast one of the top scoring units in the nation as they average 33.4 points per game, the 23rd best mark in the country. Page becomes the fourth Terrier to earn a Jacobs Blocking Award, joining Pat Illig (2010), Eric Deutsch (2003), and Bob Prevatte (1949).

Eberhardt, a senior from Suwanee, Georgia, has started all eleven games at defensive tackle. He ranks fifth on the team with 41 total tackles and is third with 8.5 tackles for loss. He is tenth in the SoCon with 4.5 sacks for a loss of 28 yards.

Pall, a senior from Montreal, Canada, has seven tackles for loss and two sacks among his 29 total tackles. He has started all eleven games at defensive end. Pall was the 2010 SoCon Defensive Player of the year and has been named All-SoCon for the second straight season.
