Frank Ellerbe arrived at Wofford after spending his first two years at Sewanee. While at Wofford he played tennis, basketball and baseball. As a senior he was captain of the baseball team. In 1919 he signed with the Washington Senators before being traded to the St. Louis Browns in 1921. He retired from professional baseball in 1925. During his career he played with the likes of Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth.
