Erin Wells enters her fifth season as an assistant coach on the Wofford women’s golf staff since joining for the 2012-13 season. She was a member of the Wofford women’s golf team from 2005-09.
In her first four seasons on staff, Wells has seen Wofford claim 19 top-five tournament showings, including five runner-up finishes and a tournament title at the 2012 Bulldog Invitational. Wells' tenure also includes Lauren Dunbar being named to the All-Southern Conference Team, and Katy Funk named to the All-Freshman Team. Wofford women's golfers have won three individual tournament titles and finished second at three more.
In her first year as assistant coach, Wells helped the women’s golf program to seven top fives, highlighted by a team title at the South Carolina State University Bulldog Invitational. Wofford shot a three-round team total of 884, shattering the program’s low 54-hole record of 921, which was set in October of 1999. The Terriers also set a new low 18 record of 285, and posted the second-best low 36 in program history of 588.
As a player, Wells was a four-year letterwinner for the Terriers with 11 top ten finishes and a 79.12 stroke average. She played 37 tournaments and 87 rounds, with her best finish coming as the individual champion of the Diet Coke Wofford Invitational during the 2006-07 season. That season she earned All-Southern Conference becoming the first Terrier women’s golfer to received all-conference honors. She was also named Southern Conference Player of the Week, and earned SoCon Golfer of the Month honors, becoming the first Terrier to earn either award.
Wells graduated from Wofford in 2009. She has gone on to receive her nursing degree from Spartanburg Community College. A Louisville, Ky., native, she currently resides in Spartanburg.
