Atkins Performance Center at the Joe E. Taylor Center
Wofford alumnus and former South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Joe Taylor donated $1 million for the renovation of the Curry Building into the Joe E. Taylor Athletic Center in 2009. The building, located next to Gibbs Stadium, was completely renovated in 2026 following a lead gift from Robby Atkins ‘65.Â
 Â
The Robby Atkins Performance Center at the Joe E. Taylor Center features a 9,000 square foot weight room. It includes a 1,600 square foot area of Fieldturf, along with four 25-yard lanes of track flooring. It has 28 racks, 14 with inlaid platforms, and two functional trainers. Outfitted with personalized Terrier branding throughout, the facility provides everything Wofford student-athletes need to develop strength, speed, power, and athleticism. It serves the football, baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, golf, rifle, cheer, and track & field programs. The strategic layout enhances training efficiency and flow, creating an environment that fosters pride, motivation, and daily competitiveness.Â
 Â
A new fueling station and lounge area provides student-athletes over 700 square feet of space to relax and recover with smoothies and snacks. Offices for the athletic performance staff and the cross country/track and field coaches is also included. The first floor of the building contains the rifle range, which includes ten lanes with electronic scoring.Â
