INSIDE PITCH
• On Wednesday, Wofford broke out to a 4-0 first inning lead and added two more in the 2nd inning to hold off an aggressive start from Western Carolina who posted 5 runs of their own in the first two frames. Matthew Milburn, the Wofford starter, eventually settled in and got through the 7th posting 5 straight scoreless innings. The Terriers added single runs in the 4th, 7th and 8th and took a 9-5 lead to the bottom half of the 8th. Never count out a hot-hitting team and Western Carolina mounted a five run rally over their final two at bats against Terrier closer Will Stillman to steal a 10-9 victory.  The good news in the loss, the Terriers rolled up a season high 17 hits and used only 2 pitchers. The bad news is that Wofford stranded 10 on base and have to face an equally potent offense in UNCG in today's elimination game. The Spartans fell to Samford 8-5 last night.
• Wofford entered the SoCon Tournament having dropped two of three at Furman last weekend, winning the regular season finale 13-5.  With the victory the Terriers secure a 3rd straight 30-win season for the first time in school history. There had only been two 30-win campaigns prior to this most recent stretch in 1991 and 2007.

• Wofford enters the tourney with a .274 team batting average (7th in the league), a 5.40 ERA (3rd) and a .971 fielding percentage (T2nd). The Terriers hit the fewest homers of any SoCon team this year (33) but stole the most bases (94).  The pitching staff struckout the most batters in the league (459), picked off the most runners (21), and issues the fewest walks (195).
• Wofford has made back-to-back appearances in the SoCon Baseball  Tourney semifinals. Wofford was 3-2 in last year's event held in Charleston, but strangely only had to play two teams. Wofford defeated Furman twice with a loss to Samford sandwiched in-between. Wofford needed to defeat Samford twice in the semis to reach the final and got through game one with a 12-8 victory, but in the second game the toll of 4 games in under 48 hours caught up to the Terriers and they fell to Samford 25-4.

TERRIERS TO WATCH
• AT THE PLATE -  Derek Hirsch leads the Terriers with a .350 batting average, 10th best in the league. Wofford's leading homerun threat is Brett Hash (9) and he also has the most RBI on the team with 51.  McClain Bradley leads the team in stolen bases with 20.
• ON THE MOUND -  Matthew Milburn (6-5, 4.32 ERA) becomes the only Terrier in history to strikeout 300 batters in a career. His 8 strikeouts last Thursday at Furman in a tough-luck 2-0 loss gave him 302 for his career.  Elliot Lance ends the regular season with a 3.50 ERA, second best in the league and Will Stillman earned the most saves in the SoCon with 9.
