Spartanburg, SC – The Wofford women's tennis team came back strong after Saturday's defeat and took down the Emmanuel Lions 6-1 in Sunday's afternoon contest.
The doubles teams for the Terriers took little time going to work as all three teams won easily. A new pairing of
Jenna Vroman and
Lilie Steryous in the #1 spot won 6-1.
Georgia Fischer teamed up with
Liz Massie as they won in the #2 position by a score of 6-1 as well.
Kay Kluska and
Brittney Wilbur were the final pair as they completed the doubles sweep for Wofford by a 6-3 final.
Liz Massie continued her dominance on the day as she won on court three, 6-0 and 6-3 to give Wofford the first singles point.
Georgia Fischer followed that up with a 6-2, 6-1 win as the #2 singles. At the #1 spot was
Jenna Vroman who came back from an early deficit to win both sets by a 6-3 score.
Kay Kluska did the same as she was down in both sets, but roared back to win them both, 6-3 and 6-4.
Ansley Hardeman finished the day off after coming back from a 1-4 deficit in set two, to win it 6-4.
"We shot super strong in doubles and we improved on a lot from Saturday. We had some different pairings in doubles, but they executed well", said coach
Krissy Hall. "There is still plenty we can work on as a team, but it's about getting better every day and that's what we plan to do."
The Terriers will be back in action on Thursday, March 12 as they will play host to North Greenville at 3:00 p.m.
