CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Wofford men's tennis team made a trip to Charleston after an eight-day layoff to take on the College of Charleston Cougars, coming up on the wrong side of a 5-2 loss.
Wofford was swept in a two-match doubles competition.
Omar Williams and
Alex Horn fell 6-1 at the #2 position, while
Will Fullett and
Ashe Ray dropped their match 6-4. The #1 pairing of
Javi Casasolas and
Callum Rendle were down 4-3, but that match went unfinished as the Cougars had already won the doubles point.
The Terriers battled in singles as four out of six matches went to three sets, including two winners coming from Wofford. Ray scored Wofford's first point of the match with a 7-6, 6-3 sweep as the #3 player, and Fullett fought after a first set defeat to win the next two 7-6. Rendle was able to come back to win his second set 6-3, and Casasolas won his second via a 6-2 result, but both ended up falling in the third set. Losada also went the distance after winning his first set 6-2, and Williams was taken down in two at the #1 position.
