SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Presbyterian College at Reeves Tennis Center on Saturday. The Terriers swept doubles play and then won five of the six singles matches for the victory.
In doubles,
Liz Massie and Lilie Streyous were behind 2-1 at the #1 position before winning five straight to take the match 6-2.
Breda Brennan and
Brianna Wilbur clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win at the #3 position.
Georgia Fischer and
Lily Woods added a 6-3 win at the #2 position.
During singles play, the Terriers won the first set in five of the six matches.
Lily Woods earned the first singles win with a 6-0, 6-1 match at the #1 position.
Liz Massie added a 6-2, 6-3 win at #3 singles and then a 6-3, 6-1 win by
Brianna Wilbur at #5 singles clinched the match.
Georgia Fischer claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win at #4 singles and
Emely Kahrs won 6-3, 6-3 at the #6 position. The Blue Hose won at #2 singles with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 result.
"I thought we competed really hard today!" said head coach
Krissy Hall. "We had great on-court energy and really stuck to our game plans on each court. This match should give us confidence moving forward in the season."
Wofford (4-2) will remain at home as they host Gardner-Webb on Wednesday, February 23, at 2:00 p.m. The Blue Hose are now 2-6 on the season.
