GREENSBORO, N.C. – To begin Southern Conference play, the Wofford women's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over UNC Greensboro at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center on Friday afternoon. The Terriers won the doubles point, then split the six singles matches to come away with the road win.
 
In doubles, Georgia Fischer and Lily Woods took the #1 position by a 6-0 score. Breda Brennan and Emma Sorensen were able to clinch the doubles point for the Terriers with a 6-3 win at the #2 position. The Spartans won at the #3 position 6-4.
 
To begin singles play, the Spartans won at the #3 position and then Emely Kahrs had a 7-6, 6-1 win at the #5 position for Wofford. After a win at #4 in three sets by UNCG, Catherine Blouin answered with a 6-1, 7-6 win at the # 6 singles position. The Spartans then picked up a three-set win at the #1 position to tie the match at 3-3 with one match still underway. In the deciding match at #2 singles, Breda Brennan won the first set 6-3 and then dropped the second set 2-6. In the third set, Brennan won 7-5 which won the match for Wofford by a 4-3 margin.  
 
"I was so proud of the energy we played with today," said head coach Krissy Hall. "I am so proud of the team for prevailing today through their energy and fight in such a competitive match," said head coach Krissy Hall. "This was a great win, considering it was our first SoCon match, and raises our confidence as a team moving forward."
 
The Terriers (10-5, 1-0) return home on Friday, March 24, against East Tennessee State at 3:00 p.m. Wofford has now defeated UNCG (3-12, 0-3) in the last five meetings.
