Spartanburg, S.C.- It was heartbreak again for the Wofford men's soccer team on Monday, August 28, losing to Charlotte 1-0 for the team's home opener after surrendering a goal in the 69th minute.

The Terrier defense staved off the Charlotte attack for the entirety of the first half, neutralizing two corner kicks, forcing three shots off target and senior goalkeeper Cameron Victor saved the only attempt the 49ers put on target. However, Wofford's counterattack only mustered one corner in the half and went to the break tied at zero.

Wofford's defense again was tasked with keeping Charlotte off the scoreboard early in the second half and answered the call- Victor made his second of four saves on the night and forced two well off target shots. At the 68:03 mark, Charlotte's Natsuki Ogata broke the draw and scored his first goal of the season and the game's decisive goal.

Cameron Victor was able to bring his season save total up to eight on the season and prevent a 2-0 margin of defeat off the final scoring opportunity for either team and the match ended 1-0 with Charlotte coming out on top.

The Terriers are back in action on Thursday, August 31, facing the nationally ranked Duke Blue Devils in Durham, North Carolina. The matchup will be streamed on the ACC Network, kickoff is schedule for 7 PM.
