DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Wofford College women's tennis team picked up their first win of the season on Thursday against Bethune-Cookman at Derbyshire Park. The Terriers won the doubles point and swept the singles matches for the 7-0 victory.
In doubles, the pairing of
Grace Agster and
Lily Woods won 6-0 at the #1 position.
Emely Kahrs and
Brianna Wilbur added a 6-0 win at the #2 position, while the #3 position was won by default.
All singles matches were won in straight sets by the Terriers.
Emma Sorensen (#5) and
Lily Woods (#3) each had 6-0, 6-0 wins. At #4 singles,
Grace Agster had a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Breda Brennan picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1 singles, while at #2 singles
Brianna Wilbur had a 6-1, 6-2 win.
"I was so proud of our energy and play today," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "We started off very strong in doubles and continued that play on each singles court. We will look to carry this momentum into our match tomorrow against a tough Stetson team."
Wofford (1-2) remains on the road with a match at Stetson on Friday. The first home match will be Saturday, February 10 against Emmanuel.
