GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford women's tennis team earned a 6-1 road win at UNC Greensboro on Tuesday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts. The Terriers won the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches for the victory.
The Terriers swept all three doubles matches.
Chloe Elliott and
Brianna Wilbur had a 6-1 win at the #1 position.
Breda Brennan and
Lily Woods had a 6-0 win at the #1 position and
Catherine Blouin and
Grace Agster claimed a 6-4 win at the #2 position to complete the sweep.
Wofford won the first set in five of the six singles matches.
Catherine Blouin had a 6-1, 6-1 win at the #4 position and
Lily Woods added a 6-3, 6-1 win at the #3 position as the Terriers took a 3-0 lead in the overall match. A 6-1, 6-3 win by
Grace Agster at the #5 position clinched the match for the Terriers.
Chloe Elliott had a 6-3, 6-4 win at the #6 position.
Brianna Wilbur then won 6-3, 7-6 at the #2 position. The lone match to go three sets was at the #1 position, with
Breda Brennan dropping the first set 5-7 and winning the second set 6-3. In the third set tiebreaker, the Spartans claimed the win 11-9.
"I am really proud of our doubles play today," said head coach
Krissy Hall. "We came out with great energy and really set the tone for the match. We competed hard and found ways to win. Another great team effort!"
The Terriers (14-2, 3-1) will visit Samford on Sunday, April 6. The 14 wins are tied for the most in a single season, which was set in 2024. UNCG is 3-14 overall and 0-6 in SoCon play. The match against the Spartans was originally scheduled for March 16, but postponed to April 1 due to weather.
