We knew they were going to throw a lot at us. We knew they were going to have a lot of formations for us. As a defense collectively we were able to not necessarily stop them at all times but hold them to minimum gains.

I think the game came down to two things when we went down 10-7, our offense responded with a big play drive. I thought our kids showed a lot of heart and determination by finding a way to score on the next drive. Then recovering that fumble and scoring right away. So we go from being down 10-7, late in the third quarter to 21-10.
We thought we played an excellent football team tonight. We have played some good teams in our conference as well. We will enjoy this one tonight and then watch film tomorrow. Appalachian will be a good challenge for us. They are good and we know it is a tough place to play. We are we are still playing though. You could tell us we were going to Russia right now and we would be thrilled.

To tell you the truth it is exactly what we expected. First and foremost Richmond has a quality program. Their kids are just like our guys, they are going to go out, they are going to compete, and do everything they can do to try to get it done. We had concerns with our matchup offensively versus defensively. They did some things that created some problems for us, and then we compounded the problem by making some mistakes; not executing on certain situations.
Defensively we played well; had a little problem getting off on third and long. We were in the game right there until the end, then we had a bad snap then the wheels finally came off. To Chris Tommie’s credit he did everything he could to help the team. He is punting with a bad leg. He did a great job coming in to help us with the last few games.
It has been a great year, it has been a great ride. I’m not going to let this one loss take away from what we have accomplished for the long run this season.

They are a good team on defense. They are fast, they got to the ball well, they did a good job putting pressure on us, making us make plays and at times we made plays and at other times we did not.

We’re a big fan of telling people when they tell us it’s impossible we make it possible.
It is our job as defense to get off/up the field. The quarterback made plays. I don’t think it was missed assignments. It was just a good football team making plays and I think we made our share of plays just unfortunately not enough.
