Shane Calvert begins his second year with the Terriers in 2016 after previously spending time as the volunteer assistant coach and performance analyst at Clemson University.Â
  As the assistant coach and performance analyst, Calvert was responsible for assisting in planning training sessions, scouting opponents and on-campus recruiting. Calvert also played a vital role in coding film, deciphering statistical analysis information, setting up travel arrangements, game day preparations and marketing skills camps. In his only season with the team, Clemson went on to win the ACC Championship.
  Calvert is no stranger to the Spartanburg area, previously serving as the head women’s soccer coach at Spartanburg High School, where he was responsible for all of the day-to-day operations for the program. While at Spartanburg High, Calvert also served as assistant varsity football coach, working specifically with the kickers, punters and special teams unit.
  Before his time in Spartanburg, Calvert spent time as the head coach of Dobyns Bennett High School’s men’s and women’s programs, located in Kingsport, Tennessee. He also served as the head men’s soccer coach at Morristown West High School in Morristown, Tennessee.Â
  Calvert has a career record of 147-34-20 as a high school head coach. During his high school years, he was a two-time State Coach of the Year, four-time Region Coach of the Year, and six-time District Coach of the Year.
  He currently holds an NSCAA Advance National Diploma as well as an NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma. He serves as the current chair of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer All-American Committee.
  Calvert got his coaching start at Tusculum College, where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Marketing. Following graduation, he served as the assistant men’s soccer coach, where he was responsible for training field players and goalkeepers, scheduling games, recruiting and ensuring students’ NCAA compliance.
  A native of Clinton, South Carolina, he and his wife, Karen, have two daughters, Laura and Lilli. The family resides in Spartanburg.
