Women's Golf Concludes Season at Southern Conference Championship

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Wofford women’s golf team wrapped up its spring season at the 2010 Southern Conference Championship, held at Moss Creek Golf Course on Hilton Head Island, S.C., April 18-20.

Junior Alex Rankin led the Terriers in the three-day tournament, carding a score of 237 (79-80-78) and tying for 23rd overall. Sophomore Sarah Hurt finished close behind, tying for 28th and recording a score of 241 (84-78-79) over three rounds.

Junior Meredith Few finished the tournament with a score of 244 (85-78-81) and senior Sarah Herbert recorded her tournament-low score of 79 in the third round to card a 248 over three rounds. Freshman Tarah Taylor rounded out the Wofford scores with a 251 (83-80-88).

Wofford recorded a team score of 963. After carding a 330 in the first round, the Terriers improved with scores of 316 and 317 in the second and third rounds, respectively.

36th-ranked Chattanooga claimed the tournament championship with a total score of 902 (306-297-299, +38). Freshman Yue Xu of Appalachian State earned the individual title, carding a one-over 217 (69-72-76).
