INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee has selected the teams and individuals to participate in the 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, and the field includes two Wofford men's golfers. Senior Garrett Medeiros and freshman Mark Joye are the first two golfers in Wofford's Division I history to be selected to play in the NCAA Championship.
The Terrier pair will compete in the Atlanta, Ga. Regional, hosted by Georgia Tech and played at the Capital City Club May 20-22.
Both golfers enjoyed successful seasons, with Medeiros leading the Southern Conference in stroke average and Joye garnering the league's Freshman of the Year honor. Both athletes claimed individual medalist honors during the season, Medeiros at the Davidson College Invitational and Joye at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate, and both earned All-Southern Conference honors.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 20-22. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
The finals will be conducted June 1-6 at The Honors Course in Chattanooga, Tenn. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is the host institution for this year's championships.
Listed below are the teams and individuals selected to participate in the Atlanta, Ga. Regional. Teams winning automatic qualifications are designated by their conferences in parentheses. Complete selections can be found at www.ncaa.com.
