Football Completes Two-A-Days

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford football team completed the final two-a-day practice of the fall on Wednesday. The team practiced for approximately an hour and half in shorts and shoulder pads for both practices.

“We have had a tough camp,” said head coach Mike Ayers. “We started out and it was blistering hot, then we had those days it rained all day and we have gotten past that. We have had a couple of scrimmages and we have gotten better. We have improved this week in regards to assignments and technique. We still lack the consistency that a great football team needs and we need to iron out those kinks the rest of the way. We will have a scrimmage tomorrow night and that will be the last full blown scrimmage that we will have until we play Ohio University. It is a big challenge with a young football team at a lot of spots, but I feel like we will play hard.”

The injured players who are considered doubtful for the Ohio game include RB Cody Burris, S Hunter Hobson, LB Mike Niam, TE Jamie Chappell, OL Jon Boyd, and TE Mike Crawford. All other injured players are day-to-day.

On Thursday, the team will scrimmage at 5:30 pm in Gibbs Stadium as part of Fan Fest. The coaching staff is planning for approximately 80 plays during the evening. The 2010 season begins with a road trip on September 4 to face Ohio University.
