SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College women’s golfers Sarah Hurt and Alex Rankin completed the three-day Women’s Collegiate Team Championship on Thursday afternoon in Dahlonega, Georgia. The pair finished tied for 37th overall with a total score of 317 for the event.
The First Annual Hooters Women’s Collegiate Team Championship Presented by the National Golf Coaches Association, the most unique summertime national women’s amateur Championship, began on Tuesday, August 3 at Achasta, By Reynolds in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Fifty-five (55) two-person teams comprised of top current women’s collegiate golfers competed in the event. Each team paired players from the same university in a 54-hole stroke play event.
The format of the Championship was Day 1 Alternate Shot; Day 2 Best Ball; and Day 3 Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams were comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including 42 Division I, 4 Division II, 6 Division III and one NAIA program.
Overall, Cheyenne Woods and Michelle Shin from Wake Forest won the event with a total score of 273 which was 15 under par. Brooke Pancake and Jennifer Kirby from Alabama finished second at 13 under par for the three day event.
