SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Two Terrier players were honored with All-Tournament recognitions for the UMBC/ Navy Kickoff Men’s Soccer Tournament this past weekend. Goalkeeper
Andrew Drennan and forward
Bryan Eddy were named to the 12-man team for their accomplishments on the field.
Drennan accounted for nine saves during the UMBC match-up, and Eddy set up the
Wilson Hood goal in the Navy game as he tallied the assist. Eddy also had two shots during the tournament.
Four other Terrier athletes were recognized this past week in college soccer as the premier players in the Southern Conference. Kenny Owens,
Andrew Eppelsheimer,
Randy McLeod, and
Paulo Bonfim were named to Topdrawersoccer.com’s “Top 20 College Players to Watch” for the Southern Conference.
The men’s soccer team travels to Conway, S.C. this weekend to partake in the 2010 Coastal Carolina/ adidas Invitational. There are three other teams invited to the CCU/ adidas tournament including: Virginia Commonwealth University, Coastal Carolina University and Howard University.
The squad will compete twice throughout the weekend, facing Virginia Commonwealth Friday, Sept. 10 at 5:00 pm. The Terriers have only faced the Rams once before in men’s soccer history, with the result ending in a tie.
The men’s soccer team will take on Coastal Carolina Sunday, Sept. 12 at 3:00 pm. The Terriers have battled the Chanticleers eight times in soccer history, most recently being Oct. 18, 1989.
