JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Wofford College women's golf team competed in the first two rounds of the Jacksonville University Classic on Monday from the Marsh Landing Country Club and is in fifth place with a two-round score of 31-over-par.
The Terriers shot an opening-round 17-over-par 305 and were in seventh place before climbing two spots with a second-round 14-over-par 302. The two-round 607 has Wofford just five strokes from second-place North Florida, while the College of Charleston leads the field at 14-over-par.
For the Terriers, junior Lauren Dunbar led the way. Dunbar put together a 36-hole score of 5-over-par 149 and is tied for eighth place on the individual leaderboard. Dunbar shot a 4-over 76 in the morning session, following that up with a 1-over 73.
Sophomore Maegan Higgins is alone in 20th, carding a first-round 2-over 74 and a second-round 5-over 77. Freshman Katy Funk and senior Anne Marie Covar were identical, shooting 79s in round one and 76s in round two. The two Terriers are tied for 30th at 11-over. Sophomore Emiley Pagrabs is tied for 37th at 12-over-par.
Leading the tournament is Florida Atlantic's Jacqueline Shelly at 1-under-par.
The Wofford women's golf team will attempt to climb the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round, beginning Tuesday at 9 a.m.
