SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford head volleyball coach Ron Sweet announced the hiring of Sarah Gildersleeve, on Monday, as assistant coach on the Terrier staff. She was most recently an assistant coach at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky, where she primarily coached the middle hitters and blockers.

"I am very pleased to announce that Sarah will be joining our staff," said Sweet, who enters his second season as Terrier head coach. "Sarah comes from a championship program and background, has great experience and an upbeat and ambitious attitude about bringing in the right players to help us accomplish our goals. She understands we are looking for great volleyball players, great athletes, great students and, most importantly, great people."

Former Wofford assistant coach, Ari Smith, recently accepted a position as an assistant at Clemson.

Gildersleeve helped coach Lindsey Wilson College to a 36-6 record last season, including a 24-0 start. The Blue Raiders won the Mid-South Conference regular season title with a perfect 14-0 record, and were ranked as high as No. 8 nationally in the NAIA. Lindsey Wilson also boasted three NAIA All-Americans in the 2013 campaign, including one of Gildersleeve's middles, Kailey Moorhead.

At the club level, Gildersleeve coached the 13- and 14-year-olds of Charleston Juniors from 2011-13. During that time, she also coached at Charleston Volleyball Academy.

Gildersleeve played collegiately at Georgia Southern from 2007-10, winning a Southern Conference Tournament Championship as a senior in 2010. She was named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team and played in the NCAA Tournament against Florida State, taking the Seminoles to four sets.

The 2014 Wofford volleyball season gets underway August 29 in Durham, North Carolina against Valparaiso. It is part of a two-day tournament hosted by North Carolina Central.
