BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – A dominant performance in doubles play highlighted the Wofford College men's tennis team's fall opener in the Gardner-Webb Fall Classic at Webb Tennis Complex on Friday and Saturday.

The Terriers won all of their doubles matchups in the second day of the Fall Tournament. The duo of senior Rob Galloway and sophomore Haris Poric defeated Longwood University's Dan Elston and Florian Uffer with ease, taking the match 8-1. The two would earn the doubles flight one title. Trevor Gotowski and David Sklar took home a victory for the Terriers, 8-4, over Longwood's Alphonso Castellano and Steed Johnson. Walker Heffron and Andrew Graham topped Lachlan Manser and Bharani Sankar, 8-3, in the third flight.

"Our matches demonstrated that we have some excellent doubles players and that with a little more work and experience, we will produce some outstanding doubles results this year," said 14th year head coach Rod Ray of the Terriers' play. "Doubles hasn't been a main point of interest for us in practice yet, so I'm very pleased with how we played."

"I'm equally pleased with most of our singles play," Ray continued. "We won a number of close matches, which is a testimony to the mental toughness of this team. This is a really fun team to coach and I can't wait until our next tournament on Friday."

The Terriers had a strong showing in singles play as well. Parks Thompson, along with Galloway and Graham ended the second day 2-0. Thompson rallied against Presbyterian's Joel Roberts 7-6(2), 2-6, 7-6 (4) before a two set victory over Longwood's Johnson (6-3, 6-4). Galloway earned hard-fought victories, first defeating Presbyterian's Daniel Bruce 6-2, 5-7, 6-1, before besting Longwood's Elston 6-3, 6-7(9), 6-1. Graham also would battle for wins over Longwood and Presbyterian opponents, taking down Lukas Luckemier 6-3, 6-7(10-7), and Rosen Ilchev 6-0, 6-2.

Parks Schoen, Poric and Sklar each earned singles victories in the weekend's activity as well.

The Terriers take back to the courts again on Friday where they head to Belton, S.C. to participate in the Belton Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
