Men’s Golf Finishes Third at Camden Collegiate

CAMDEN, S.C. – Three golfers recorded top 10 finishes to propel Wofford's men's golf team to their second third place finish of the fall at the Camden Collegiate Invitational. Wofford finished third in a field that included 14 teams, eight of which were from the state of South Carolina. The two day, 54 hole tournament, hosted by the University of South Carolina, took place Oct. 22-23 at Camden Country Club.
 
Wofford finished with a three round team total of 869, 29 over par and 19 shots behind tournament champion James Madison. The Terriers and James Madison tied for the best opening round with a team score of 282. Wofford shot 299 in the second round before rebounding to shoot 288 in Sunday's third and final round.
 
Jeremy Grab finished fifth in the tournament, his second top five finish in the four fall tournaments, posting a three day score of 212. Grab had rounds of 75, 71 and 66. His four under par performance on Sunday tied for the second lowest round of the tournament and ties for his lowest round of the season.  The round of 66 tied a career low for Grab and was his lowest round since March 29, 2015.
 
Andrew Novak finished tied for 10th place with a total score of 216, his fourth top 10 finish in as many tournaments. The senior had rounds of 71, 73, and 72.
 
Evan Grenus also finished tied for 10th  thanks to rounds of 66, 77 and 73. Grenus's round of 66 was the lowest of his career by three strokes and the  lowest of the season by four strokes.
 
Walker Simas shot 70, 81 and 77 to finish tied for 42nd and Joshua Allen finished 66th with rounds of 81, 78 and 78. Simas's round of 70 tied a season low.
 
Drake Cassidy, playing as an individual, had rounds of 77, 81 and 80 to finish tied for 67th place.
 
James Madison won the tournament by nine shots over South Carolina. The Terriers finished in third, 10 shots behind the Gamecocks, while USC Aiken finished fourth and Harvard and Gardner-Webb tied for fifth.
 
The men's golf team concludes the fall season Oct. 30- Nov. 1 in the Kiawah Classic hosted by Charleston Southern.
