FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. - Sophomore
Nicole Chin carded six birdies and is tied for 11th at 2-over-par through two rounds of the JU Amelia Island Collegiate. The tournament teed off Monday morning at Amelia National Golf Club and is being hosted by Jacksonville University.
Chin got her spring season started by firing a 1-under 71 in Monday morning's first round. She had two birdies and no bogeys through the first 14 holes before suffering two bogeys through her final four. A birdie at the par-4, 346-yard fifth secured her 71, matching the lowest round of her collegiate career.
Chin, a product of Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, came back with a 3-over 75 in the second round. She recovered nicely after two bogeys and two double-bogeys put her 6 shots over par after just six holes. Chin was bogey free with three birdies through her final 12, including her second birdie of the day at the fifth.
Wofford is 13th in the 16-team field with a two-round total of 38-over-par 614. The Terriers are just nine shots back of a four-way tie for eighth between Memphis, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State and Southern Miss ( 29). North Florida (-1) is leading the tournament by nine shots over Bradley.
