FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore
Nicole Chin highlighted the women's golf team's season opener with a 10th-place finish at the JU Amelia Island Collegiate on Tuesday at Amelia National Golf Club.
On a day in which a lot of the leaders struggled, Chin carded two birdies and limited her bogeys to card a final-round 3-over-par 75. Chin's birdies came at the par-4 10th and par-5 15th. Coupled with her Monday rounds of 1-under 71 and another 3-over 75, she secured a spot in the top 10 with a tournament total of 5-over-par 221, the lowest 54-hole score of her collegiate career.
Sophomore
Lela Oakley tied Chin for the best round of the day. Oakley's 75 came with birdies at the par-5 ninth and par-3 17th. The Cheraw native took a tie for 48th (+16).
The Terriers finished 13th in their spring opener, totaling a 65-over-par 929. North Florida won the 16-team tournament at 15-over 879. Dayton State College's Ji Sun Kang held on to win the individual title by 2 shots over UNF's Megan Wilshire despite a final-round 7-over 79. Kang finished at 1-under-par 215 and was the only player in the 87-man field to conclude the tournament under par.

The Wofford women's golf team has three weeks until its next tournament, the Bulldog Invitational at Patriots Point Links in Charleston. The tournament is hosted by The Citadel.
