TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The women's golf team competed in a tri-match against Western Carolina and Gardner-Webb on Thursday at The Cliffs at Mountain Park. The Terriers shot a 36-over-par 324 to finish third.
The match was not originally on either of the three teams' schedules, but was agreed upon during the middle of the week. The Cliffs at Mountain Park played at 5,930 yards.
Freshman
Page Morehead was Wofford's top finisher. Morehead carded a round of 8-over 80, taking seventh out of 20 individual competitors. Senior
Maegan Higgins and sophomore
Lela Oakley also finished among the top half of the field, tying for eighth at 9-over 81. Senior
Emiley Pagrabs shot an 82 and sophomore
Nicole Chin shot an 84 to round out Wofford's team competitors.
Junior
Katy Funk competed as an individual and wound up tying for eighth with an 81. Junior
Allyson Markiewicz carded an 87.
Western Carolina won the tri-match with a 27-over-par 315. Gardner-Webb was second at 32-over-par 320. Maddi Caldwell of Western Carolina, competing as an individual, was the medalist with a round of 1-over 73.
The Terriers return to action Sunday, April 3, at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate. The tournament is hosted by Appalachian State at Mimosa Hills Golf & Country Club in Morganton, N.C.
