GREENVILLE, S.C. –
Andrew Novak continued to show why he is the Southern Conference leader in stroke average on Friday. The Wofford junior began the three-day Furman Intercollegiate with a 5-under 67 and leads the 115-man field.

Novak tore apart the par 5s at Furman University Golf Course. Beginning on the back nine, the Mt. Pleasant native birdied the par-5 11th and eagled the par-5 15th. On the front side, Novak birdied the par-5 second and polished off the par-5 sixth with his second eagle of the day, playing the four par 5s at a combined 6 under par.

Novak, who entered the day with a 70.76 stroke average, added two more birdies at the par-4 third and par-3, 201-yard 14th. It marked his seventh competitive round under 70 of the 2015-16 academic year.

Marshall's Logan Lagodich matched Novak's 67 and shares the 18-hole lead. Akron's George Baylis is a shot back in third, followed by a four-way tie for fourth at 69. Ten more golfers carded a 2-under 70.

Wofford is in a tie for 15th in the 19-team field. The Terriers posted a team score of 9-over-par 297, but are just 13 shots behind leader Harvard (-4, 284). All 19 teams are bunched within 17 shots of each other.

The second round of the tournament tees off Saturday at 8 a.m. Wofford's five team golfers will tee off in groups from 8:50 – 9:30 from the first hole.
