MORGANTON, N.C. – The women's golf began the Mimosa Hill Intercollegiate with an opening-round 19-over-par 307 on Sunday at Mimosa Hills Golf & Country Club. The Terriers are tied for second place with Bethune-Cookman, four shots behind 18-hole leader Jacksonville State (+15).
 
The 36-hole tournament features 15 teams and a total of 83 individual competitors. Mimosa Hills is playing as a par-72 at 6,057 yards.
 
Stetson, Appalachian State and Elon (+20) are in a three-way tie for fourth, one shot behind Wofford and Bethune-Cookman. There is a seven-stroke gap back to Winthrop (+27) in seventh.
 
Page Morehead carded Wofford's best round of the day. The freshman product of Spartanburg High School posted her lowest competitive collegiate round of 2-over 74 and is alone in fourth place. A shot is front of Morehead is High Point's Tan Cheeranont (+1), followed by leaders Giulia Vandenberg of Stetson and Natalia Azcue of Jacksonville State (E).
 
Wofford seniors Maegan Higgins and Emiley Pagrabs each posted rounds of 5-over 77 and are tied for 14th. Sophomore Nicole Chin shot a 7-over 79 and sophomore Lela Oakley rounded out the team competitors with an 83. Junior Katy Funk, competing as an individual, is tied for 24th after a first-round 78.
 
The final round gets underway Monday at 9 a.m. Results will be posted to GolfStat.com and WoffordTerriers.com immediately following the conclusion of the tournament.
