HAYESVILLE, N.C. – The Wofford women's golf team placed sixth at the Bill Berg Invitational. The two day, 54 hole tournament, was hosted by Western Carolina and included 15 teams. The tournament was held at The Ridges Country Club and the course, a par 72, played 6,057 yards for the event.
 
Wofford finished with a total score of 933, +69 over three rounds. Wofford shot 305 (+17) in the first round on Monday, the team's best round of the tournament. In the second round, also on Monday, Wofford shot 312. The Terriers shot 316 in Tuesday's final round. The final score of 933 was Wofford's best of the young 2017-18 season by five shots. The sixth place finish is also the best of Wofford's fall season.
 
Grace Massengill was Wofford's top golfer of the tournament. Massengill finished 12 over par, good enough to finish in 11^th place. The sophomore shot 73 in the first round, her best round of the tournament and tied for Wofford's top round of the event. Massengill shot 78 and 77 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
 
Lina Settelmayer tied for 15^th with a score of 231, 15 over par. The freshman from Germany shot 77 in the first round. She rebounded to shoot 73 in the second round, the best round of her career and tied with Massengill for Wofford's best individual round of the tournament. Settelmayer shot 81 in the final round.
 
Anna Eddy tied for 40^th at 22 over par. She shot her best round of the tournament, a 77, in the first round. The freshman shot 79 in the second round. In the third round, Eddy shot 82 and her score did not count towards the team's total.
 
Nicole Chin, the lone senior in the lineup tied for 43^rd. She shot 23 over par with a total score of 239. Chin opened with a 78, her best round of the tournament. She shot an 82 and 79 in the second and third rounds.
 
Abby Bloom finished 71^st in the field at 41 over par. The third freshman in the Wofford lineup shot 88, 90, and 79 in her three rounds. Bloom's final round 79 is a new career best.
 
Richmond won the tournament, finishing 46 over par and besting second place Winthrop by 14 strokes. Eastern Kentucky and High Point tied for third (+63) and Marshall finished fifth (+68), just one stroke ahead of Wofford. Maiken Bing Paulsen of Presbyterian College won the tournament with a five over par score of 221. 
 
Wofford's final tournament of the fall season is Oct. 23-24 when Angie Ridgeway's squad hosts the Terrier Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
