RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wofford men's golf team finished 14
th at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, held Oct. 2-3 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club. The 54 hole tournament, hosted by NC State, included 14 teams.
The teams played 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Wofford shot 308 in the first round on Monday and 304 in the second 18 of the day. On Tuesday, the Terriers shot 311 as a team to finish with a total team score of 923, 59 over par on the par 72 course.
Host school NC State won the tournament with a 16 under par performance. North Carolina finished second in the field at -14. Campbell and Loyola Maryland finished third and fourth, respectively, while East Carolina and Maryland tied for fifth.
Freshman
Nick Willis was Wofford's top golfer of the tournament. The native of Cowpens, playing No. 3 in the lineup, tied for 36
th with a total score of 222, six over par. Willis opened with a three over par 75 in the first round, but rebounded to shoot even par in the second 18 of the day, the best round of the tournament by a Wofford golfer. He shot 75 in Tuesday's final round.
Evan Grenus shot 73, his best of the tournament, in the first round. He shot 77 and 75 in the next two rounds and finished with a total score of 225. He tied for 49
th.
Ryan Marter shot 79, 77 and 79 to shoot 235 in the tournament.
Drake Cassidy shot 81, 79 and 83 in his three rounds. Josh Allen shot 84, 78 and 82 in his three rounds.
Patrick Bridges, playing as an individual, shot 75, 76, and 78 to finish tied for 56
th.
The team returns to the course Oct. 21-22 in the Camden Collegiate.
