KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team tied for 29
th place at the Edwin Watts/ Kiawah Island Classic. The three day, 54-hole tournament was held Feb. 26-28 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and play took place on both the Osprey Point and Oak Point courses. The tournament, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country, included 43 teams and was hosted by College of Charleston.
"We were glad to have a decent round to redeem ourselves today on the Oak Point course," said head coach
Angie Ridgeway. "Today was much better than day one. We might scare the competition when we figure out how to go low in the first round. That day is coming!"

Freshman
Grace Massengill led Wofford with a three day total of 230, 14 over par. Massengill recorded consistent rounds of 77, 77, and 76 in the tournament. She finished tied for 86
th place.

Madison Barnett and
Katy Funk both finished T114 with scores of 233. Barnett, a freshman, opened with a round of 84 but improved 11 strokes in her second round as she carded a 73 Monday. She shot 76 in the final round to shoot 233, 17 over par, for the tournament. Funk, a senior, also improved from the first round to the second round. The Spartanburg native shot 81 in Sunday's opening round and shot an even par 72 in Monday's second round, tying her best round this season. Funk finished with an 80 in the final.

Lela Oakley shot 89, 96, 91.

Wofford finished T29 with James Madison as the Terriers shot 934, +70 over the three rounds. Coastal Carolina won the tournament for the second straight season and College of Charleston's Laura Fuenfstueck took home individual medalist honors (-8).

The women's golf team is back in action March 6-7 at the UNF Collegiate. The tournament will be played at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.Â
