AIKEN, S.C. – The Wofford men's golf team finished 13
th at The Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, held at the Palmetto Club March 6-7. The two day, 54 hole tournament included 16 teams.

Wofford shot 301 for the first 18 holes on Monday, but improved 10 strokes in the second round to shoot 291. The Terriers shot 300 in Tuesday's final round to finish with a total team score of 892, 52 over par.

Andrew Novak was Wofford's top golfer. The senior finished tied for ninth at one over par. Novak shot par 70 in the first round and two under par 68 in the second round before shooting 73, three over par, in the final round. Novak has finished in the top 10 in every tournament of the 2016-17 season.

Drake Cassidy opened the tournament with an 81 but improved in each of the next two rounds. In the second round, Cassidy shot 74. He shot 72 in the final round, his best round of the season, and finished with a total score of 227, 17 over par.

Harrison Frye shot 75, 80 and 77 in his three rounds and tied for 77
th place.
Walker Simas, too, tied for 77
th place. Simas shot 79 in Monday's first round before improving four strokes in the second round to shoot 75. The freshman shot 78 in the final round and shot 232 for the tournament.

Joshua Allen shot 77, 74, and 84 to finish tied for 84
th.

Clemson shot five under par to win the tournament by one stroke over Virginia. South Carolina, Augusta University and East Carolina rounded out the top five.

Vic Lipscomb's team returns to action March 24-26 at the Furman Intercollegiate, held at the Furman Golf Course. Wofford then hosts The Wofford Invitational April 3-4 at The Country Club of Spartanburg.Â
