SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College student-athletes Conrad Heinrich, Jonathan Rice and Cristian Widenhouse have been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Heinrich, a sophomore from Sugar Land, Texas, finished second in the decathlon at the 2017 Southern Conference Outdoor Championships to earn All-SoCon honors. He was fourth overall at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships in the heptathlon. In 2016, he set school records in the heptathlon and decathlon, along with the 400 meter hurdles. He was named All-Southern Conference with a second place finish in the decathlon with 6,008 points. A member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, he is majoring in finance with a 3.90 grade point average. Â Â

Rice, a senior from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, competed this season in cross country, along with the mile, 1500 meters, 3000 meters, and 10,000 meters in track. He was the fourth finisher for the team at the 2015 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships as the team had the highest finish in school history. He was named to the SoCon All-Freshman team in the 3000 meters at the 2014 Indoor Championship. A member of the Southern Conference All-Academic Teams and SoCon Academic Honor Roll, he graduated summa cum laude in May with a degree in biology and mathematics with a 3.93 grade point average.
Widenhouse, a junior from Charleston, South Carolina, was the second Terrier to cross the finish line at the 2017 SoCon Cross Country Championship in 25:34.27, besting the previous school record in the 8K. He also ran the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters during the track season. He has been named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and Southern Conference All-Academic Teams. He is a computer science major with a 3.90 grade point average.

The three bring the total number of Wofford student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors this academic year to five, joining Nick Colvin (football) and McClain Bradley (baseball).

The CoSIDA Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Wofford is in the fourth district, which includes schools in Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Nominees must have at least a 3.30 grade point average. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.Â
