MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Wofford women's golf team won three straight match play matches to win the Oyster Shuck Match Play hosted by The Citadel. Wofford downed The Citadel 5-0 in the first round, beat Dayton 3.5-1.5 in the second round, and defeated N.C. A&T 3-2 behind a match winning put from freshman Lina Settelmayer to clinch the tournament victory.

The tournament win is Wofford's first since 2012 and the 9th in program history, all under head coach Angie Ridgeway. The two-day, three round tournament was held March 26-27 at Patriots Point Golf Club and featured eight teams.

"Everyone contributed to win both matches on Monday, and today was a tough battle," said Ridgeway. "Nicole (Chin) and Grace (Massengill) had their matches in hand early on and they stayed up, but we knew we had to have one more to win. Lina's match was so close as neither play was ever up by more than one. She played with a lot of guts and made a clutch five-footer for the championship on the 19^th hole. It was definitely an exciting format and a thrilling win for our young team."

Nicole Chin and Settelmayer each swept their three matches to lead the Terriers. Chin, Wofford's lone senior, won 6-5, 2-1 and 3-1. Settelmayer defeated her opponents 3-2, 5-4, 1 Up.

Grace Massengill went 2-0-1 in the tournament. She won her first match 7-6 and halved her second match. The sophomore won her third and final match 4-3.

Anna Eddy finished 2-1 in her matches. Eddy, a freshman, won her first match 4-2 and her second match 6-4. She lost her match on Tuesday 2-1.

Abby Bloom won her first match 8-6 and was 1 Down in the second match. She fell in 5-4 in Tuesday's final match.

The tournament was the first of the spring season for Wofford. The Terriers return to the course next Monday and Tuesday, March 5-6 at the River Land Classic hosted by UNCW and ECU. The tournament is held at River Landing Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C.
