WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Wofford women's golf team recorded an 11th place finish at the River Landing Classic. The two day, 54 hole tournament was hosted at the par 72 River Landing Golf Club and included 14 teams.
Wofford shot 310 in the first 18 holes on Monday, then improved by 10 shots to shoot 300 in the second round of the day. The Terriers shot 307 as a team in Tuesday's final round and finished with a total score of 917 (+53).
Lone senior
Nicole Chin was the top golfer for the Terriers. Chin shot 75 in her first round and 72 in the second 18 on Monday, the best round in the tournament for Wofford and a season low for Chin. She finished with a 76 on Tuesday and her score of 223 tied for 27th. Sophomore
Grace Massengill tied for 45th in the field with rounds of 77, 75, and 75.
Lina Settelmayer's total score of 230 was third best for Wofford and the freshman tied for 51st. Settelmayer, like Massengill, opened with rounds of 77 and 75, but shot 78 in the final round. She was 14th in the field with 38 pars.
Anna Eddy shot 81 in Monday's first round and improved by three shots in the second round to card a 78. The freshman shot 79 to conclude play and earned a total score of 238.
Abby Bloom, Wofford's third freshman in the young lineup, had rounds of 82 and 86 on Monday then shot her best round of the tournament, a 78, on Tuesday.
Campbell won the tournament by shooting seven under par, 11 strokes better than second place East Carolina.
Next up, Wofford hosts the Low Country Intercollegiate March 17-18 at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
