LET'S GO.

Wofford athletics interactive marketing campaign

Let's Go campaign mark

The Wofford Athletic Department introduced a new interactive marketing campaign designed to further enchance the visibility of its 18 varsity sports programs on August 21, 2008.

“Let’s Go.” is the title of a new comprehensive marketing campaign created by assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions Lenny Mathis and marketing assistant Lisa Cherry.  For approximately four months, the marketing office has been working with The Creative Edge, an advertising, marketing and public relations firm in Spartanburg, to give the athletic department a fresh, new look.

“The goal of the “Let’s Go.” campaign is to remind our on-campus community, Wofford alumni as well as the Spartanburg area just what makes Wofford a special place – the people,” said Mathis. “That is why we highlighted not only our student-athletes and coaches in the campaign, but fans, alumni and youth because we are in this together.  Quite simply, it’s our constant reminder – Let’s Go support the Terriers.”

“The statement, “Let’s Go.” can mean something different for each individual.  If you are a fan, student or alum, “Let’s Go.” is the time to head for the arena, the stadium or field and cheer on the Terriers.  For our coaches and student-athletes, it’s more about getting focused and ready for competition.”

The “Let’s Go.” campaign has opened additional avenues for marketing the department as well.  A complete list of all the places you can find this “new look” is listed below.

“We are very excited to bring this fresh new look to the Wofford community. A special thank you to Chris Brantly and Derek Wetter at Creative Edge, along with Lisa Cherry in our office for their work in bringing our concept to life,” concluded Mathis.

Where to look, for Wofford’s new look…

  • Through a partnership with Fairway Outdoor, the football, basketball, baseball, tennis and volleyball programs will all be featured on billboard posters around Spartanburg from August 2008 through March 2009.
  • McDonald’s at Hearon Circle, Garner Road, Cedar Springs Road and both Super Wal-Mart locations will promote the Terrier football team on special trayliners in each restaurant as well as donating a billboard at the corner of Garner Road and Pine Street.
  • The back of six Coca-Cola delivery trucks will feature custom “billboards” on their backs as they deliver the official soft drink of the Terriers across Spartanburg County.
  • In a long-standing partnership, the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium will promote Terrier football and basketball via a new Daktronics LED sign on Church Street.
  • Ben Wofford Books, the campus bookstore, will promote the football season with a special window wrap facing Church Street.
  • In October, area Bojangles’ restaurants will promote Terrier football with special trayliners.
  • Papa John’s, the official pizza delivery of the Terriers, will spread over 20,000 custom box top offers throughout the Upstate.
  • Keep track of an entire week’s worth of Wofford home events thanks to redesigned ads running in every Wednesday’s Spartanburg Herald-Journal and every Tuesday/Thursday in the The Cherokee Chronicle.  The ads in the Herald-Journal will run for 26 straight Wednesdays (excluding two weeks at Christmas).
  • GoUpstate.com launched new “Let’s Go.” banner ads on the Terriers page with more impressions added throughout the year via the Sports page and e-mail alerts.
  • Look for new television ads for the football season to air on WYCW-TV and WSPA-TV.
  • Thanks to a partnership with IMG College, the Wofford Sports Network has expanded to include two stations covering Spartanburg and Greenville.  Spartanburg will once again be served by WSPG-AM 1400 (ESPN 1400) while fans in Greer and Greenville can listen to all football and men’s basketball games on WPJM-AM 800 beginning this season.
  • The new Wofford stadium cups, game tickets, schedule cards and posters have all taken the look of the campaign.
  • New on-campus advertising through special “mini” billboards in Wofford Dining Services locations
