Ali Skayhan

Ali Skayhan enters her fourth season with the Terriers in 2022, while having been promoted to associate head coach on Monday, January 14, 2020 by head coach Lynze Roos.

In 2021, Skayhan helped guide the Terriers to a 17-14 overall mark and a 9-7 Southern Conference record. Wofford finished the regular season tied for third in the league, its highest-ever finish, and received the No. 4 seed for the SoCon Tournament to tie for the best in program history. The Terriers reached the SoCon Championship Game for the first time since 2017 before falling short to The Citadel. Three Terriers earned All-Southern Conference honors, with Sarah Barham and Emily Hodsdon being selected to the Second Team and Sarah MacLean earning an All-Freshman honor. With 138 blocks, Barham set a single-season program record.

Skayhan, who played at Florida Southern College before competing professionally in Hungary and Germany, spent the 2019 season serving as an assistant coach on Roos’ staff.

“Wofford Volleyball is so fortunate to promote Ali Skayhan to Associate Head Coach for our program,” Roos said.  “Ali’s playing experience, coaching passion, and training skills have already impacted our team for the better.”

Skayhan came to Wofford after working as an associate head coach for the University of San Francisco for two seasons. Prior to her time in San Francisco, Skayhan helped lead BRSE Volleyball Club (2015) to the Hungary 1st League Championship Title. After Hungary, Skayhan earned MVP honors in the German Bundesliga in 2016, helping SWE make the jump from the second division to the first division in 2017 when she served as a team captain in her final year of play.

A native of Portland, Oregon, Skayhan led Florida Southern to four NCAA Division II tournament appearances while graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement and Performance. Skayhan’s 3,947 assists rank fourth all-time at Florida Southern, being named AVCA All-Region two times while earning first and second team All-American status.

“Ali’s recruiting approach and ability to build relationships will continue to grow our program and attract outstanding young women to Wofford College,” Roos said.
