Box Score CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Wofford volleyball team fell Wednesday night 3-1 (30-27, 32-30, 28-30, 30-19) to Southern Conference foe Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C. The Lady Catamounts won games one and two, then the Terriers won the third game before losing the match as Western Carolina claimed game four.
The Lady Catamounts move their season record to 8-20 overall and 3-10 in the SoCon, while the Terriers fall to 9-16 overall and 2-10 in the league.
Western Carolina sophomore Katie Hennessey recorded an impressive performance collecting a .364 hitting percentage from 10 kills, two errors and 22 total attacks. Hennessey also led the match in assists with 38 and digs with 24.
Other top performances for Western Carolina came from freshman Jelena Jakovljevic as she registered 18 kills and 44 total attacks. Jakovljevic was second on the team in digs reaching the double digits with 13. Freshman Ali Rook finished the match with 12 kills, 34 total attacks and 10 digs.
Sophomore Joanna Suddath paced Wofford as she collected a .316 hitting percentage from nine kills and 19 total attacks along with 25 assists. Sophomore Shanna Hughes recorded eight kills and 41 total attacks, while freshman Stacy Byrd gathered seven kills and 36 total attacks.
Three Terriers also concluded the match in double digit digs. Hughes paced Wofford with 19, while junior Carolyn Rivers had 14 and Suddath finished with 11.
Wofford returns home Saturday to Benjamin Johnson Arena for a 7 p.m. matchup against Elon.
