Box Score BOONE, N.C. – Wofford volleyball traveled to Boone, N.C. Wednesday for action against SoCon foe Appalachian State. The Mountaineers’ strong hitting gave Appalachian a 30-20, 30-18, 30-22 victory over the Terriers.
Four Mountaineers (6-11, 3-2 SoCon) concluded the match hitting above a .400 percentage. Freshman Lauren Swecker paced the match with a .600 hitting percentage, followed by classmate Jordan Jesberg hitting at a .556 percentage. Senior Brittany Zahn led Appalachian with 15 kills, two errors and 28 total attacks, which gave her a .464 hitting percentage. Junior Carla Durham rounded out the four with a .412 hitting percentage from nine kills, two errors and 17 total attacks.
Mountaineer senior Lorelle Rau completed the night with a match best 38 assists. Sophomore Cassie Engelgau paced the match in digs collecting 12.
Junior Liz Sheets led the Terrier (6-11, 0-4 SoCon) offense gathering a team high 20 total attacks. Freshman Anna Gustafson fell just shy of the team best collecting 19 total attacks.
Sophomore Joanna Suddath’s 23 assists and nine digs led Wofford in both categories.
Terrier volleyball will return to Benjamin Johnson Arena this weekend continuing Southern Conference action. Wofford will host Western Carolina Saturday for a 1 p.m. matchup, followed by a 2 p.m. contest against Chattanooga on Sunday.
