Furman volleyball slips past Wofford, 3-2

Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. – Wofford volleyball dropped road match at Furman 3-2 (30-26, 26-30, 30-15, 28-30, 16-14) as four Lady Paladins reach double digit kills in Alley Gymnasium in Greenville, S.C.

Furman (18-6, 11-3) junior Kerry Wooten paced the match with a .457 hitting percentage. She collected 19 kills, three errors and 35 total attacks. Junior Chibuzo Aguocha gathered a match high 20 kills and 68 total attacks. Other double digit kills were recorded by sophomore Alison West with 15 kills and 54 total attacks. Sophomore Nicole Palazzo rounded out the quartet as she collected 13 kills and 33 total attacks.

Junior Courtney Stewardson accumulated a match best 57 assists.

Freshman Brooke Ellison registered 26 digs to lead the Lady Paladins. West finished with 22 digs and Aguocha had 20.

Sophomore Joanna Suddath led the Terriers (9-19, 2-13) offense with a .450 hitting percentage from nine kills, zero errors and 20 total attacks. She also collected 45 assists to lead Wofford. Sophomore Lindsey Richardson also registered an impressive offense performance with 18 kills and 45 total attacks. Junior Liz Sheets was the second Terrier to record double digit kills with 11. She also logged 26 total tackles with a .346 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Shanna Hughes gathered a match high 27 digs. Four other Terriers collected double digit digs. Sophomore Sarah Palmer had 23, while sophomore Brittany Thompson has 19. Junior Carolyn Rivers finished with 15 and Suddath rounded out the quartet with 12.

Wofford will travel to Chattanooga Tenn. Sunday for a 2 p.m. match against SoCon opponent Chattanooga.
