Terrier volleyball falls on the road to Chattanooga, 3-1

Box Score CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Wofford volleyball fell 3-1 Sunday afternoon to league opponent Chattanooga in Maclellan Gym in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Lady Mocs defeated the Terriers by a score of 30-11, 24-30, 30-21, 30-19.

The Lady Mocs move their overall season record to 17-12 and 12-4 in Southern Conference competition. The Terriers drop to 9-20 overall and 2-14 in league action.

Chattanooga senior Leslee Ball led all players in kills with 16, along with 19 total attacks for a .375 hitting percentage. Classmate Julianna Martinez finished the match with a .500 hitting percentage from 12 kills, one error and 22 total attacks. Senior Jamie Engel completed the trio of Lady Mocs that finished the match in double digit kills. Engel gathered 11 kills to go with two errors and 33 total attacks.

Freshman Bailee Chastain paced the match in assists as she collected 50 of Chattanooga’s 51 assists.

Junior Lara Newberry registered an impressive 29 digs to lead the match.

Freshman Catelyn Amende collected a Terrier best .333 hitting percentage. Classmate Stacy Byrd led Wofford in kills with 14 along with 45 total attacks. Sophomore Lindsey Richardson finished with 12 kills and 30 total attacks.

Sophomore Joanna Suddath logged a team high 39 assists.

Four Terriers reached double digit digs. Sophomore Brittany Thompson led with 15, classmates Sarah Palmer and Shanna Hughes finished with 14 each and Suddath had 13.

Wofford returns home Friday and Saturday to conclude regular season competition in the Benjamin Johnson Arena. Friday the Terriers will host the College of Charleston for a 7 p.m. matchup and Saturday The Citadel at 2 p.m.
