BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – The Wofford volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-16) to the Samford Bulldogs Saturday night in the Pete Hanna Center in a Southern Conference match.
 
In the opening set, the Bulldogs go off to a 9-5 start and didn’t look back as they extended their lead to 22-12 as they took the 1-0 with a 25-16 win.
 
The second set started with Samford jumping out to an 11-1 lead, before the Terriers rallied to cut the lead to 14-10, Amanda Liguori, Rachel Woodlee and Wendy Burnett had kills during the run.  Wofford would pull within three, 21-18 and 22-19, but couldn’t pull any closer as the Bulldogs took the second set 25-20 to take a 2-0 lead.
 
In the third and final set, Wofford took their first lead of the match when they went ahead 8-4, only to see Samford rally and the tie the set at ten.  The Bulldogs would end the set on 15-6 run to claim the set 25-16 and the match.
 
Liguori, who had eight kills and five digs, led Wofford offensively.  Arden Anderson and Taylor Baird had six kills.  Anderson also had one solo block and two block assists.  Bekah Dorsey had 26 assists.  Reagan Styles hand her consecutive double-digit streak end at 19 matches as she collected four digs.  Ligouri paced the team defensively with five digs, and Dorsey had a team-high five digs.
 
Wofford (13-15, 2-9) will return to action when they action when they host Furman on November 2 in the Benjamin Johnson Arena.
