Wofford Sweeps The Citadel on Senior Day

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford volleyball earned a season sweep of The Citadel Bulldogs with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-17) win on Saturday on Senior Day in a Southern Conference match inside the Benjamin Johnson Arena.
 
Wofford (15-12, 5-9) honored its class of 2013, Arden Anderson, Rose Richardson, Regan Styles and Rachel Woodlee, prior to the match.
 
Styles paced Wofford defensively with a match-high 17 digs, while Woodlee notched eight kills.  Anderson finished with seven kills and a .538 hitting percentage. She also had four block assists, and Richardson earned a block assists and handed out two assists in the match.
 
Styles played in 459 career set for the Terriers giving her the school record for sets played in her career.  The senior has never missed a set in her career.  Her 17 digs pushed her pass the 1,600 career dig mark.  She currently sits as the school record holder with 1,602 career digs.
 
Amanda Liguori led Wofford with 15 kills, while Bekah Dorsey collected a double-double with 35 assists and 12 digs.  It was her team leading 12th  double-double of the season. 
 
Wofford took an early 4-1 lead in the first set, but The Citadel battled back to force at tie at nine.  The Terriers broke a tie at 11 with a 6-0 run to take a 17-11 lead.  Wofford went on to win the first 25-16.
 
The Terriers again took the early lead in the second set, 9-4.  The Bulldogs pulled within four points, 10-6, and three points, 14-11, before Wofford ended the set on an 11-3 run to win the set 25-14.
 
Wofford again pulled out to an early lead in the third set, 9-3, but The Citadel, again, battled and cut the lead to 11-10.  Wofford responded with a 3-1 run to take a 14-11 lead, but the Bulldogs answered and pulled within one point, 14-13.  Wofford took control of the set with a 4-0 run as they pulled ahead 17-13.  Wofford finished the set with a 25-17 win to earn the sweep.
 
Ise d’Angelo led The Citadel (6-26, 0-14) with ten kills, while Mikaela Tracy and Rachel Keefer handed out 16 and ten assists respectively.  Erin Bucherl picked up 11 digs for the Bulldogs.
 
Head Coach Corey Helle coached in his final home game.  The match was his 345th career game at the held of the Terriers program tying the school record for matches coached.
 
Wofford returns to action with a match at Georgia Southern on November 10 at 6 p.m. before ending the regular season at Davidson on November 11 at 6 p.m.
