Women’s Soccer Falls to UNCG in Regular Season Finale

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – The Wofford College women's soccer team fell short, losing the regular season finale to UNC - Greensboro, 2-1, at UNCG Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
 
Forward Vicki Hill scored the lone goal for the Terriers in the 30th minute. The junior received a pass from senior Maureen Buff, then blasted the goal into the back of the net.  Hill's goal marked her first of the season.
 
The Terriers had seven shots to UNCG's eight. Both sides earned four corner kicks in the contest. UNCG played an extremely physical game, accumulating 14 fouls to Wofford's three.
 
Hill's goals were bookended by a UNCG scores. The Spartans first struck in the 12th minute on a goal at the foot of Ashley Stokes, before Candice Forbes struck her fifth goal of the season at the 78:50 mark for the UNCG win.
 
The loss does not affect the Terriers' seeding in the Southern Conference tournament, as the team locked in the No. 7 seed in Friday's 5-0 win over VMI. The Terriers will host a first round matchup at Snyder Field against No. 10 seed Chattanooga on Wednesday, October 29th.
