Graham Reaches 1,000 Digs in Volleyball’s Win at Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Junior Jessica Graham earned her 1,000th career dig to highlight the Wofford volleyball team's four-set win over Converse College (25-16, 22-25, 25-18, 25-9) Monday night at Hannah Gym.

Graham was 28 digs shy of the milestone heading into the evening and posted a match-high of 29. She became the 15th Terrier to reach 1,000 digs and will now have the rest of her junior season and senior season to chase Reagan Styles' program record of 1,631 set in 2012.

Wofford (7-8) improved to 7-0 in the school's Division I era against Converse (5-7). The local rivalry dates all the way back 1983 – both schools were part of the NAIA – and the Terriers now hold an 18-9 all-time lead.

Aside from Graham's milestone, the Terriers got a match-high 17 kills from senior Taylor Baird. The two-time Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week hit .351 and added 10 digs for her fourth career double-double. Sophomore Ellie Tallman also added to the win with a career-high 16 kills. Freshman Molly Mayo played three of the four sets and had a match-high 36 assists.

The Terriers dominated on offense, posting 63 kills on the evening to 22 for the Valkyries. Wofford finished the evening outhitting Converse .214 to .016 and held a 7-3 advantage in service aces.

On defense, Wofford edged Converse 9-8 in blocks, led by a match-high five block assists from freshmen Danni Densford and Alex Holland. Graham led Wofford's ground game that totaled 75 digs to Converse's 50.

The Wofford volleyball team completes a stretch of seven matches in five days on Tuesday, traveling to UNC Asheville for a 7 p.m., showdown with the Bulldogs.
