GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Wofford women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Furman in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Stone Soccer Stadium. Stephanie DeVita scored all three goals for the Paladins as they advance to the semifinals.

The seventh-seeded Terriers end the season at 6-8-4 overall, while second seed Furman moves to 15-4-1. The Paladins ended the Terriers season in the SoCon Tournament quarterfinals for the second straight season. DeVita now has 65 career goals, the most in Southern Conference history.

The Paladins got on the board first when the Terriers were called for a hand ball in the box. Stephanie DeVita put the penalty kick into the right side of the net for a 1-0 lead at the 1:36 mark.

The Paladins kept up the offensive pressure with a header just two minutes later that was wide right.

With three minutes left in the first half, Furman's Carlie Couch put a ball in play that traveled all the way in front of the net before going wide to the right. Over the next ten minutes, the Paladins had the next three shots on goal. Caroline Boone had a shot for the Terriers at the 65:16 mark that was saved.

Furman's Stephanie DeVita hit the left post from ten yards out at 69:13. Caroline Boone added a shot for Wofford four minutes further into the match, but was wide left. The Terriers committed a foul in the box with 2:03 left in the contest and Stephanie DeVita buried the penalty kick into the left corner of the net for a 3-0 lead. Wofford had a corner kick with one minute remaining, but the cross was cleared out and the Terriers were unable to get another chance at a shot.

"I thought we definitely had some good quality moments in the game," said head coach Amy Kiah. "There are things that we need to work on to move forward, but overall out team fought hard and created some opportunities. We have a great group of seniors and I am disappointed for them to go out like this."
