Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wofford volleyball team fell 3-0 to UNC Greensboro on Friday night on the road. The Spartans won the first set 25-16, the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-14. With the loss, the Terriers fall to 12-12 on the season and 5-5 in Southern Conference action while UNCG improves to 12-10 overall and 6-3 in conference play.
Kara Shacklette led the Wofford offensive attack with nine kills as the freshman hit .300 on the night.
Catie Cronister and
Colleen Reilly both had six kills while
Bijonae Jones and
Bella Santoro both added four.
Madeline Savage had 14 digs while
Lorissa King and
M.E. Eberhardt added 13 and 11 assists, respectively.
UNCG hit .284 on the match while holding Wofford to a team hitting percentage of .075. Wofford had 32 kills and 23 errors and the Spartans had 40 kills on just nine errors. Play at the net proved to be a factor as well as UNCG totaled eight blocks while only allowing Wofford one. In the serving game, Wofford had six errors and zero aces.

With the Spartans leading 13-10 in the first set, they quickly stretched the lead to 20-13 before putting the set away 25-16. Wofford had 11 kills and seven errors on 36 attempts to hit .111 in the set while UNCG hit .375 thanks to 15 kills and only three errors.
Wofford trailed 15-6 at one point in the second set before cutting the gap and then again trailed 20-13 before rallying off five straight points to pull close at 20-18. However, the Spartans would take the next five points to clinch the set 25-18.
In the third set the Spartans remained hot, rallying off four points in a row. Wofford would cut the Spartans lead to 5-2 before UNCG stretched the lead to 12-2. The Spartans would continue to tack on points to build a 20-9 lead before putting the set away 25-14.
The Terriers return home to take on Western Carolina Saturday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. Wofford beat the Catamounts 3-0 in the earlier contest this season.Â
