Terriers Win 117-77 in Rout of Allen

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford Terriers scored the most points in a game since 1986 in a 117-77 win over Allen on Tuesday night in Benjamin Johnson Arena. The game, the first of Wofford's four games in the Gulf Coast Showcase, was the first home game of the season. The Terriers improve to 1-1 on the season while Allen falls to 1-3.

Fourteen different Terriers played in the contest and 13 different players scored. Fletcher Magee, the 2015-16 SoCon Freshman of the Year and a 2016-17 Preseason All-SoCon selection, led the way with 21 points. Magee went 5-7 from the field, 3-4 from beyond the arc and 8-9 from the free throw line in 18 minutes of play.

"When the ball goes in the basket, it is a much easier game," said head coach Mike Young. "We have seen that a lot over the years."

Seniors Eric Garcia and Jaylen Allen both scored 14 points, season highs for each. Garcia was 5-6 from the field, 4-5 from three point range and also added five assists.

In just their second career games, the Terrier freshman enjoyed break out performances. Dishon Lowery saw 21 minutes of action and scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds. He also tallied three blocks. Nathan Hoover, the leading scorer (18) in Wofford's season opener at LSU, hit three three-pointers to finish with nine points in the game. Donovan Theme-Love had seven points and six assists. Justin Tucker led the team with 23 minutes played. He also added 11 points.

Three pointers proved to be a big difference in the game as Wofford made 17 three's and Allen made six. Seven different Terriers contributed from behind the arc with three players (Allen, Garcia, Magee) shooting a combined 78.5% (11-14). Wofford led 69-39 at the half and the lead stretched to as much as 42 points with 15 minutes to go in the game.

The Terriers will play away from Benjamin Johnson Arena for the next two weeks before returning home Nov. 29 against Mars Hill. Next up, Wofford heads to Ft. Myers, Florida to continue play in the Gulf Coast Showcase. Mike Young's team will play Vermont on Monday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. and will play again on Tuesday and Wednesday with opponents and times to be determined. Wofford will then head to Colorado for a Nov. 27 matchup in what will be a homecoming for Eric Garcia before returning back to Spartanburg for the Nov. 29 game.
