Men's Soccer Falls at Mercer 4-1

Macon, Ga. – The Wofford men's soccer team fell 4-1 on the road at Mercer on Saturday evening. Wofford got the scoring started in the 17th minute but Mercer scored four goals in the second half to complete the comeback win. The loss moves the Terriers to 3-11 overall and 3-2 in the Southern Conference.
 
Wofford struck first in the 17th minute when Chris Welsh converted on a penalty kick opportunity. Mercer threatened a few times before the halftime whistle but the Terrier defense was up the challenge.

Just nine minutes into the second half Mercer found an equalizer thanks to the goal from Trenton Whitely. In the 60th minute Mercer then went ahead when Kobe Perez scored from a set piece from 20 yards outs. The Bears would go on to score two more goals in the next three minutes to secure the win.
 
Despite the loss, Wofford totaled five shots. Chris Welsh scored his first goal of the season. Zach Aversano, Ben Nickol, Jackson Karolczyk and Walt Stevens all recorded a shot in the match.

Wofford returns to the pitch on Tuesday, October 17 when the Terriers host UNCG at Snyder Field at 7 PM.
