Johnson City, Tn. – The Wofford women's soccer team lost 5-0 to ETSU on Wednesday evening in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament. ETSU scored one goal in the first half and dominated the second half, netting four goals to secure the match. The Terriers finish the 2017 season 7-11-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the Southern Conference.
The Buccaneers got the scoring started in the 17
th minute thanks to the strike from Isabel Hodgson. Despite Wofford creating good offensive opportunities the Terriers could not capitalize to even the match. In the 43
rd minute
Alex Carroll came up with a key save to keep the score 1-0 at the half.
ETSU took control of the match in the second half scoring four goals in a nine minute span. The goal scoring barrage was too much for the Terriers to handle and ETSU went on to win the match 5-0.
Despite the loss, the Terriers totaled 13 shots and two corner kicks.
Emma Fletcher led the Terriers with three shots while
Alex Carroll made two saves.
Wofford ends the 2017 season with a record of 7-11-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the Southern Conference. The Terriers finished the season 4-4-1 at home and 3-7 on the road.
Hayley Younginer led the Terriers in goals (21) and points (46) while
Hannah Washko led in assists (7).
